Liquid Telecom’s Broadband Over Satellite is a data link provided via VSAT/Satellite technology in Southern African countries. It is a high speed, cost-effective, quality Internet connection that can be deployed anywhere within the satellite footprint of these countries within short notice.

Features

Whether a customer's location is urban or rural, Liquid Telecom’s Broadband over Satellite ensures they are connected from wherever they are as long as they have a clear line of site of the satellite. Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) or commonly known as a satellite dish is used for receiving and sending information.

Operations
The platform consists of a central Hub and many VSAT terminals based in dispersed locations. The Hub consists of VSAT equipment and a Satellite Antenna.

Remote terminals are composed of a small outdoor antenna, an outdoor unit (ODU) and an indoor unit (IDU). The indoor unit is stand-alone equipment that connects to the user's computer (or different IP device) via an Ethernet interface.
The antenna will be oriented to face the satellite. The satellite relays the information to an earth station where the hub resides.

Coverage
By utilizing Eutelsat W2A’s well positioned satellite at 10 degrees East, satellite antenna’s can be mounted on most buildings and operates in the Ku frequency band (14.0-14.5GHz).The coverage maps are shown below.

Liquid Telecom’s Broadband over Satellite is offered as a wholesale offering and caters for a wide variety of business market applications from the busy home executive, the small business owner requiring Internet connectivity to larger businesses wanting reliable data connectivity.
The Service is targeted specifically at the African market. The service is delivered to the market through various channels comprising licensed service providers or agents whose core competence is predominantly to deliver a totally packaged internet service.
